| Adventure Exlporation Camp 2008 | ||||||
Stop, Look and Listen…Safety Orientation Explorations May 26th - May 30th This week we will review our Fire, Tornado and Earthquake drills. In addition, we will review water safety rules, field trip rules and stranger danger rules. We will welcome new friends and adjust to our summer schedule. The children will enjoy a visit from the local police department and we will get fitted for helmets! We will end our week with a visit to the local fire department for a tour and a visit to the park for a sack lunch. Ratouille...Cooking Explorations June 2nd - 6th Our taste buds will be on overload this week. We will enjoy many cooking projects and will enjoy sampling our creations. We will sample salty, sweet sour and spicy foods. The children will enjoy a cooking demonstration at the school and will learn about different fruits and vegetables. The school agers will visit a meal preparation business and visit a local grocery store. We will all enjoy a fiesta at a local restaurant with a tour. lunch and special hat! Vibunzi...African Explorations June 9th - 13th The children will enjoy a visit to the Saint Louis Zoo. We will search for our adopted African Chimpanzee. A train ride through the zoo will be adventurous! This week we will bring our favorite animal in for an African animal parade and enjoy an African luncheon. We will also have a visit from a Chimpanzee. A visit to the St. Louis Art museum will educate the school agers about African Art. Our Wheels go Round and Round all through the Town...Automobile Explorations June 16th - 20th Our engines will be gearing fast as we explore the foundations of the automobile. A special speaker will talk to us about historical cars we will even have our own derby race at the school! Our school agers will tour a local car dealership and visit an automobile museum. We will get creative with paint this week with some non traditional modes of painting. Late in the week, we will get creative at the Museum of Transportation and visually educate ourselves with their automobile exhibit. We will also jump high in our outdoor bouncer! Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall...Seasonal Explorations June 23rd - June 27th This week we will celebrate the seasons in style. For winter we will enjoy a snow ball game and some of us will go grass sledding! For spring, the children will participate in a planting activity. We will cool down in the sprinkler while basking in the sun and celebrate fall with festive leaf prints. The school agers will take an early morning hike to view nature in the summer and they will cool off later in the week with tours of a Snow Cone shop and an Ice Creamery. All of the children will cool off with a run through the sprinklers and enjoy water play activities at a local park! Blue Suede Shoes...Fifties Explorations June 30th - July 4th America the Beautiful will be celebrated as we review the era of the fifties. Elvis will visit us this week and sing some famous tunes from the fifties. From poodle skirts to rolled up jeans...we will dress up in fifties attire and parade around to celebrate America's birthday in style. Farmer in the Dell...Farm Animal Explorations July 7th - 11th The children will have fun dressing up in western attire for our farm animal visit. Some of us will be brave enough to ride a pony, others will visit the on site petting zoo. We will have a picnic lunch at Suson Farm. Farmer Jim will educate us about farm animals, provide us with fun games and will include a milking demonstration! Farm animals are always a favorite at ALC! "3, 2, 1 - Blast Off"...Planet Explorations July 14th - 18th We will have a blast studying our universe. Some of us will become Squadron Leaders and have a mission in space. We will have fun playing in the space tunnel and will learn about our surrounding planets. We will enjoy a field trip to Planet fun for unlimited play and a special snack. Mad Science will visit us with a special hands-on presentation of air pressure to tie into our planet explorations! Brontosaurus, Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus...Dinosaur Explorations July 21st - 25th We will become Paleontologists this week with the exploration of dinosaurs and the examination of fossils. We will have a dinosaur parade and will have a visit from a musical entertainer. The school agers will go on a fossil hunt and we will all enjoy a field trip to the Science Center is see this summer's "Dinosaur Alive" at the Omni Max and view the indoor dinosaur exhibit. Take Me out to the Ballpark...Sport Explorations July 28th - August 1st We will be active this week! The children will learn many skills associated with some of our favorite sporting activities. The younger children will learn how to fish at school for some treasures. We will also learn instructional techniques and drills for some of our favorite sports. All Star Sports will visit us with an introductory program involving musical warm ups, strength activities and different types of sports. The school agers will have a blast bowling and will enjoy playing field games at a local park! Abracadabra...Magical Explorations August 4th - 8th This week we will act like magicians and perform some magical tricks. We will learn some new tricks from our magician. We will bounce high in our outdoor bouncer. The school agers will have their final weekly pool visit and they will enjoy their visit to the City Museum. We will have our final magical field trip to the Magic House. We will be dazzled by all the of the hands on activities available to us! Farewell to Summer…Back to School Explorations August 11th - 15th This week finalizes our Adventure Camp for this year. We will prepare ourselves to move to our new classrooms, start kindergarten or go back to school. We will have our last splash day and re-kindle our favorite summer activities. |
